Ah the beach here we come!! We had been planning this beach trip for almost a year with my sister and her family. We were both stay at home moms which means we had to plan early to be able to afford it. I could not wait to get Brooks back to the beach for the second time, and Harper to go for her first time. Waves, sun, ocean, music, sand, and family….what could be better? Harper fell in love with the ocean…. she is definitely my water baby. Brooks is my little sandman. He loved playing in the sand… He would wake up early in the morning and point to the beach. Ready to go! My man! I could sit out on the beach all day with him if I could. Unfortunately, Harper was getting over an ear infection. The trip for her wasn’t as bright as we had hoped. The sun with her antibiotics ended up being a crying fest for all of us. It was a trip where you had to look at the bright side of things…. We were away from home for a week. Despite our mishaps, I had the most special moment with my son when we were there. We were collecting seashells together and putting them all in one big pile. As I was collecting him some more seashells, I glanced up at him and saw him smiling ear to ear with the sweetest love eyes I have ever seen. My heart literally skipped a beat. It was a moment that I only see in movies where everything just stops. We both just smiled at one another, no words (or grunts considering he wasn’t talking very well). I will never forget that moment we had… it seems so simple typing it… but it was more than words can explain. Needless to say, I kept the small seashell we found together to remember the moment when my heart doubled in size for him.
