Seriously…. I LOVE paint! Even when I’m bored at times, I’ll play with paint. Today I covered the table with Kraft paper and let the kids go to town. Harper can hang with brother until she decides to get a little too abstract crazy, and it looks like a paint bomb went off on her as well as the floor. Not to mention the fact that Harper will absolutely eat anything and everything if we let her (I know typical baby)… So once she starts wanting to test taste the different colors of paint… I always end her paint time early. But today I decided to let the kids apple stamp the paper since Brooks has found a love for stamps recently. He loved it… He not only got to paint one of his favorite foods, but stamping it had him laughing and screaming with excitement… Of course his sister is hiding and attempting to eat his newly painted apple stamp. A girls gotta eat right? Maybe she’ll poop out a rainbow 😉
Here is a fun edible paint activity my kids love too! Here is how to make it:
- 2 cups of flour
- food coloring
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 4 1/2 cups of water
Combine water and salt to pot and heat on stovetop (medium heat). Add flour to the pot and stir with mixer to make sure there are no lumps. Turn down the heat as soon as the consistency seems perfect for your little one to paint. I add the mixture to a six section muffin pan and mix in food coloring. My kids LOVE this…I usually get a HUGE sheet of butcher paper and let them go to town. AND I ALWAYS HAVE TOWELS READY FOR THE BATH.
Fun Ideas with Paint:
-Finger Paint on Canvas…I usually let the kids have one color at a time so the colors do not blend together (looking like poop).
-Water Gun Paint…. Put watered down paint in water gun…ALWAYS OUTSIDE…I lay a huge piece of butcher paper down. HUGE FAN!
-Print Paint….Using different household materials to paint such as empty toilet paper roll (I use the ends…we dip them in paint and stamp the papers), lemon stamps…I cut the lemon/dip/stamp, corn on the cob print…roll in paint/roll on paper, Onion print…cut the onion where the rings are showing/dip/stamp, and so much more.
-Egg bust painting…cut a small hole in the shell of a egg shell/fill with paint/throw eggs on paper.
