My mom never thinks she has ever done enough for us…. She has 6 girls, 1 son, and now 7 grandchildren. I would say she did a pretty good job as a mother! We grew up watching her work to make a living, go to school to become a teacher, and still help raise all of us (which I’ll be the first to admit was NOT easy…four girls all in their preteens…I do not know how she is still living with a whole head of hair at that). I’ve always heard her say she feels she never did enough, and now as a parent I understand what she means. I do not think I will EVER feel like a good enough mother to my babies… they will ALWAYS deserve more than what I can give them. That is why we have our Heavenly Father… He is all that is perfect, and we will always fall short.
The song “Mom” by Garth Brooks always gives me hope and assurance that there is a perfect plan for me being a mom to my beautiful babies and why my mom was chosen for all of her children. Even though we struggled growing up, I am so very grateful for every detail of my life story. My mom has always been my best friend even when I did not realize it. She is the woman who will love me despite my many failings.
My mom has always sat on the sidelines watching our lives unfold while coaching us through that hardships. My sisters, brother, and I realized it was time to get together and celebrate HER. The woman who never complains when we do not get to visit on her birthday or mother’s day due to travel and babies. We decided to have a sit down lunch and answer questions about her. We are so used to calling her to hear us and our problems that at times we forget to ask her about her and this was our chance. She truly deserves many more HER days.
